Brown has gone in a new direction
Story
Paddington returns to Peru to visit his beloved Aunt Lucy, who now lives at the Retired Bears Home. With the Brown family in tow, an exciting adventure begins when a secret throws them on an unexpected journey. The director of the previous two films, Paul King, has decided not to direct this installment. However, he came up with the idea for this third film and is attached as executive producer. Seen on Graham Norton in Gosti: Billy Crystal/Emily Mortimer/Hugh Bonneville/Pharell Williams/Michael Kiwanuka (2024). Well, Mrs.
For a few minutes I thought: Oh no!!
For those who don’t know, previous incumbent Sally Hawkins said it was time to move on. I tried to warm to her, but to me Emily Mortimer is just an old product of the London School of Lovely Girls. I know the show has evolved, but Emily’s opening moves are irritatingly flat and boring. I tried really hard to find her likeable, but as the movie went on she became strange. The least they could have done is give her a meaningful script. She seemed too much like a little wife who doesn’t say much.
Let’s be fair
Sorry, Em! Same goes for Madeleine Harris, who plays Judy. She’s excellent, maybe they’ll both get more text next time. I’m not sure if she tried to be Sally Hawkins at times, but she had big shoes to fill and Sally was a complete success. In the end everyone played their part very well. Be that as it may, this time the lovable Peruvian takes the initiative and runs to the aid of his relatives.
Visually it’s just as fantastic as the previous movies
This journey takes him from Lahndan around the world, and guess where… A family member is in trouble, and the oldest madness and mortal sin is the cause of all the mischief. The scenery in this far away place is breathtaking, just beautiful, it inspired me to go there, as did the sadly cheerful London. The movie is very funny, action-packed and also schmaltzy, but very young children with a less than spunky disposition won’t find the series as endearing, or even scary at times, which is what I thought at times. While the script is bland and somewhat predictable in places, the secrets revealed were so simple that a five-year-old could figure them out… aha…
the target audience
Haha… that doesn’t take away from the CGI impact of the movie, and one in particular is deafening. If you have a healthy phobia of certain creatures (not snakes), forget it. Bonneville appears to have had a hair transplant, I’m not sure, but he gives a great performance as always, as do the Walters and some great new additions to the story. Hey… a glamorous character from the last movie shows up, let’s just say I don’t think this is the end.
