In New York City, in the borough of Manhattan, there are several numbered “Avenues”; which are interspersed with smaller numbered streets.. I watched it out of curiosity, with no high expectations, just surprised to see Stallone in a TV series. You can feel the tension in the scenes, it’s also quite realistic as long as the story calls for it. I wouldn’t say it’s funny, but a couple of funny scenes as a result of Dwight (Stallone) going through 25 years in prison and not being fully integrated into how the world works now; So I imagine the sudden transition will present him with some interesting hiccups for us.
I’m glad someone told him how to use Uber, it was fun while it lasted
It’s a pretty clever script, but not in a very funny way, which is good. Of course, Stallone is a huge stand-in, but the rest of the cast looks pretty good. The show literally feels like taking gangsters written for an early 90s movie and throwing them into 2022, which makes for a good mix of humor and violence. I thought it was going to be a one-off show like some of the recent stallion movies; he mostly relies on his name and performances, but Taylor Sheridan does a good job here with writing worthy of Stallone’s performances.
I like how this western oater feels sometimes when he’s still mobster
I think it will be fun to watch macho Stallone build a criminal empire from scratch in the middle of nowhere Tulsa. I think the show could end up flying under the radar and there could be an uproar later with people asking how they never caught it before because I haven’t seen that much publicity from Paramount. I went into it with no high expectations, but if it’s a top-notch episode, this could be a really fun watch. If it continues like this great, if it gets better it will be fantastic.
I’ll add a rating as more episodes are released and update if anything changes drastically about the show
